What fees cost you

A yearly fee of 1% sounds small. It is taken every year, from everything you hold, including past growth. Compare two fees and see the gap open up.

How it works

Both lines get the same example growth and the same deposits. The only difference is the yearly fee, taken bit by bit from the amount held, the way a fund's ongoing charge (its TER) works. Because the fee comes out of past growth too, the gap compounds just like the growth does.

Real costs can also include fees per trade, currency conversion and spreads. Investment costs explained covers them all, and every EU fund's KID lists its costs before you buy.
